Building-integrated energy systems can create new opportunities for local energy generation, storage and use in buildings. At the same time, these solutions require effective collaboration between stakeholders and across technologies and disciplines.

The new standardisation committee was established at the initiative of the Norwegian Electrotechnical Committee (NEK), and its work will be carried out in close cooperation with Standards Norway.

Clarifying interfaces between disciplines

The new committee, NK 303 Building-integrated Energy Systems, will bring together expertise from across the value chain. Its aim is to develop one or more standards that the industry can rely on and refer to.

The standards may also refer to existing standards where relevant requirements or recommendations are already in place. The aim is to bring together the information relevant to building-integrated energy systems in a clearer and more accessible way.

The work will focus particularly on the interfaces between technology, building design and construction, and fire safety. These are areas where clearly defined roles, responsibilities and requirements are essential to protecting people, animals and property.
